After this, he fled to the city of [Neverwinter](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Neverwinter "Neverwinter"). Waterdeep is where the adventurers [Alyf](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Alyf "Alyf"), [Kyra Volcora](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Kyra_Volcora "Kyra Volcora"), [O'bahd Baxter](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/O%27bahd_Baxter "O'bahd Baxter"), and [Torrin Ghesh](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Torrin_Ghesh "Torrin Ghesh") were first hired by the famed [Volothamp Geddarm](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Volothamp_Geddarm_\(FRC\) "Volothamp Geddarm (FRC)") to locate his missing friend, [Floon Blagmaar](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Floon_Blagmaar "Floon Blagmaar"). After investigating a warehouse in the Dock Ward, they discover that both Floon and a friend of his named [Ranaer Neverember](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Ranaer_Neverember "Ranaer Neverember") had been kidnapped by the [Xanathar's Thieves' Guild](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Xanathar%27s_Thieves%27_Guild "Xanathar's Thieves' Guild") and the [Zhentarim](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Zhentarim_\(FRC\) "Zhentarim (FRC)") respectively. The next day, the group sold the valuables they had acquired in the warehouse, and resumed their search for Floon. A plan was concocted to use a paper bird to track him down. This led them to the sewers in the Dock Ward, within which they were met with hostility by various creatures and members of the Xanathar's Thieves' Guild. After some time, they managed to locate Floon, as well as an illithid and its pet intellect devourer. With the aid of Ranaer, the group managed to narrowly survive the encounter. After reuniting Floon with Volo, the latter gifted the group of adventurers the property of [Trollskull Manor](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Trollskull_Manor "Trollskull Manor"), a building he had previously purchased to write his next book in, but was willing to part with as thanks for their good deed. Within the house they discovered a ghost who eerily introduced itself as [Lif](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Lif "Lif"), though its benign nature stayed its elimination. Eventually, Alyf and Kyra were contacted by the [Emerald Enclave](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Emerald_Enclave "Emerald Enclave"), and Kyra and O'bahd were contacted individually by the [Harpers](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Harpers_\(FRC\) "Harpers (FRC)") and [Zhentarim](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Zhentarim_\(FRC\) "Zhentarim (FRC)") respectively. Each of them ended up joining one of the organizations that contacted them for their own reasons, and each of them was given a task to complete for them. The morning after receiving their missions, O'bahd and Alyf ventured to [Weirdbottle's Concoctions](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Weirdbottle%27s_Concoctions "Weirdbottle's Concoctions") and later to the God Catcher to pick up and deliver the poison bottles to a woman known as the [Black Viper](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Black_Viper "Black Viper"). Meanwhile, Kyra and Torrin went to Felzoun's Folly to meet with [Uza Solizeph](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Uza_Solizeph "Uza Solizeph"), rid her house of a gazer, and recover her cat [Fillipa](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Fillipa "Fillipa"). O'bahd was rewarded with 15 platinum pieces while Kyra was rewarded with a spellbook. Later that night, the four of them went to the City of the Dead to meet with [Ambrose Everdawn](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Ambrose_Everdawn "Ambrose Everdawn") and help look for the necromancer causing problems there. They proceeded to patrol the City of the Dead for several nights in a row. One night they discovered two groups of skeletons, one handled by the [Dragon Heist Party](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Dragon_Heist_Party "Dragon Heist Party") and the other by Sir Everdawn. However, no traces of the necromancer themselves were found. During this time, the Dragon Heist Party had a pair of carpenters inspect their house and began preparing for renovations. Kyra approached [Vincent Trench](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Vincent_Trench "Vincent Trench") to request his aid in finding her [missing friend](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Eurybia_Maelstrom "Eurybia Maelstrom"), and O'bahd entered into a fighting tournament in the [Field of Triumph](https://nat19.fandom.com/wiki/Field_of_Triumph "Field of Triumph").
